Correspondence with Carl Zigrosser, 1927-1971.

Most of the correspondence concerns the 1942 publication by Knopf of Zigrosser's book, The Artist in America. The many issues involved in publishing this book are covered in letters from J. R. de la Torre-Bueno, Sidney Jacobs, and Alfred Knopf. Zigrosser also read manuscripts for art books for Knopf and submitted his critical opinion. Over time, a personal relationship developed between Zigrosser and Knopf, both Columbia graduates.
